The Rutgers University Human Resources Department will hire at least 20 percent more African-Americans to its human resources teams in 2018, the university announced Monday.
Rutgers also announced that the university has established a $1 million scholarship fund for the African-Caribbean Student Corps, which is led by a student-run group and aims to bring resources to African-America students at Rutgers.
The university said the scholarship fund will be available to help Rutgers students graduate with a degree in human resources.
The fund will also allow students to receive scholarships that can be used toward scholarships for non-degree-seeking students.
Rochester Institute of Technology, which also has a racial diversity program, also announced last month that it would increase its African-student population by 20 percent.
