A man charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor in Michigan was released from custody Friday, according to court documents.
A federal grand jury in Detroit indicted Joseph James Brown, 41, on two counts of kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor.
He was taken into custody Friday afternoon in the state capital of Lansing.
The documents state he is in the custody of the FBI.
Brown faces up to life in prison.
Brown is charged with one count of child molestation.
Authorities say Brown and the victim met in March 2016 on Facebook and he allegedly held the victim against her will and forced her to perform sexual acts on him in his home.
Brown and the other victim met at Brown’s apartment on a rainy night and went to a hotel room in his residence.
When the victim was not home, Brown allegedly left her in the room while the two engaged in sexual activity.
