By KENNETH S. FELDMANAPSI Staff WriterThe cast of “Star Wars” is facing new pressures and layoffs amid the production of the sixth film in the blockbuster franchise.
In an interview with “The Today Show” this morning, actor John Boyega said he was on “a mission to be a better person and be more transparent with everyone.”
Boyega said the production had been challenging and he and his co-stars have had a tough time dealing with the pressure.
Boyega has had to quit the film, which he is producing and is expected to direct.
“We’re going through this, this is crazy.
But it’s the hardest thing that I’ve ever done,” Boyega told the TODAY Show.
Boyega and the rest of the cast of the movie have been on the road since the beginning of December.
It is the first time in the series’ history that the cast will be traveling.
The cast and crew have also had to deal with other production issues.
A new director was hired, but they were unable to finalize the script before the movie opens on Dec. 18.
And the film has not yet been approved for release on home video.
Boyello said he believes the cast and filmmakers are working to resolve the problems and that he and co-star Daisy Ridley will be back in a new role.
“I know they are working very hard to make sure that we’re in this together, and that we can deliver on this,” Boyega said.
Boyega also talked about his role in “Star Trek Beyond.”
He said he played a lot of the captain in “The Next Generation” but that it has been tough to stay connected with his fellow cast members.
“It’s very hard because they all do the same thing.
They’re doing the same movies,” he said.
“They’re not necessarily the same people, but you’re still talking to each other.”
He also talked to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” saying he is grateful for being able to be involved in such an important franchise and that it will help him be a more positive person.
Boyegas voice has been on screen for decades, but the actor has had a hard time staying in touch with his voice.
“When I did it, I was doing it on my own.
And I don’t think anyone would have ever guessed that I would have a voice like that,” he told DeGenere.
Boyegas father was a music producer and producer of commercials, he said, adding that he felt it was important to keep working to keep his voice alive.
“I think it’s very important for me to have the voice that I do.
And so to have that voice, you have to be very conscious of who you are as a person and who you can be,” Boyegis father said.”
Star Wars: The Force Awakens” will be the first film in a franchise that began with “Starman” in 1979.
It was released in 2015.
“The Force Awakens,” a spinoff from “Starring Jimmy Kimmel Live,” is scheduled to open in theaters on Dec, 18.
